AECTP 2017 Conference Partners in Excellence

ACEPT's 2017 Pre Hospital Emergency Care Conference was held at the Brentwood Hotel in Wellington on Tuesday 28th November 2017. 

The opening speaker, Professor Julie Considine, from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Deakin University, Melbourne, presented “Why we do what we do – evidence and Basic Life Support”.

We then heard from Dr Andy Swain -Emergency Medicine specialist and lecturer, University of Otago School of Medicine who spoke about Practical Emergency Scene Management and the upcoming GoodSAM app.

Lucy Shieffelbien - Operations Manager, National Poisons Centre, topic “Poisoning – you can’t just kiss it better” was very enjoyable and informative.

Anne-Marie Frew – Nurse Specialist, Hutt Valley DHB spoke about managing diabetic emergencies.

Dr Annette Beautrais - Suicide Prevention Co-ordinator, Centre of Research Excellence in Suicide Prevention (CRESP) presented  “Self-care for Emergency Care Providers”.

The conference ended with Dr Julie Considine talking about the latest approach to Cervical spine immobilisation.

Our next conference will be held on Tuesday 27th November 2018.  Registrations will open around April so watch this space!
